Scrap is a resource item found in Endzone. Scrap can be used to construct many buildings, to make Tools at the Workshop, or to make Cloth, Metal, Plastic and Electronics by a Refiner at a Recycler or Refinery.
Loose scrap found on the ground is a non-renewable resource. Once collected, it will not replenish. Currently, there are only 3 renewable sources of Scrap: Scrap Catchers, Trading, and defeating Raids.
Collecting Scrap[]
Scrap can be gathered in multiple ways:
Scrapyard: This will likely be your primary method of scrap collection for most of the game. Each Scrapyard employs up to 5 Scrap Collectors which work in a designated Field of Work. This Field of Work can be reset as many times as needed.
Scrapyards can also be used to farm Scrap Catchers. When Scrap Catchers are within a Scrapyard's Field of Work, Scrap Collectors will automatically collect scrap from the Scrap Catchers and transport Scrap to available repositories. As Scrap Catchers are renewable sources of Scrap, an invaluable late-game strategy is having strategically placed Scrapyards farming Scrap Catchers; otherwise, your Scrap Collectors must retrieve scrap from areas farther and farther from your base, which can lead to resource bottlenecks.
Gather Scrap (Task): Use this task to select an area on the map. There can only be one Gather Scrap task on the map at any given time, but you can replace this task as many times as needed. Any settlers without a profession, up to a maximum of 4, will collect loose scrap from the area. This does not include Scrap Piles, which must be collected by employed Scrap Collectors from a Scrapyard.
Trading Post: Occasionally, visiting traders will offer to trade scrap for other random resources. However, this is not a reliable source of scrap in the mid-to-late game (>100 settlers), as it is not guaranteed that a trader will be selling scrap.
Raids: When occasional raids are defeated, they will drop resources, which usually include scrap. However, this is not a reliable source of scrap , as raids are infrequent and the amount collected will not be sufficient for producing critical resources like Cloth and Tools.
