Orchard is a building found in Endzone.

Description[]

An Orchard provides Food like fruits and nuts from trees as well as a tiny amount of wood (2 per tree) when trees are replanted. Although an Orchard can be created without construction costs, it needs time to allow its trees to grow.

Growth cycle[]

After placing an orchard trees are planted and take an extended time to initially grow (growth time), 2.5-5.5 seasons depending on the selected seed type. After maturing they can be harvested for food (maximum yield). The next 7 crops will take only 1 season to grow and during the last harvest trees are cleared and replanted yielding the normal amount of food and an additional 2 wood per tree. The growth cycle repeats with the new trees again requiring extended time to mature for harvest.

Irrigation[]

Irrigation level modifies growth speed during all growth stages.

Irrigation Level Growth Speed
Wet 150%
Moist 100%
Dry 50%
Dried out None (-25% at a guess)

Types of orchards and production[]

Additionally 2 wood is produced for each tree when it's cleared (at the end of it's lifetime).

Orchard size[]

Typically trees take 3x3 space (9 tiles) except those along the edges which may use less making the orchard more space efficient (higher production per area used).

Dimension size (tiles) Trees in row Tiles / tree
6 2 3.00
7 3 2.33
8 3 2.67
9 3 3.00
10 4 2.50
11 4 2.75
12 4 3.00
13 5 2.60
14 5 2.80
15 5 3.00
16 6 2.67

Examples[]

  • 6x6 (36 tile) orchard has 2x2 = 4 trees, 36/4 = 9 tiles per tree
  • 7x7 (49 tile) orchard has 3x3 = 9 trees, 49/9 = ~5.4 tiles per tree
  • 9x9 (81 tile) orchard has 3x3 = 9 trees, 81/9 = 9 tiles per tree & same production as 7x7

Note that the 7x7 orchard is significantly more space efficient than the 6x6 and 9x9 and produces the exact same amount as the 9x9 while taking almost half the space!

Dimension size breakpoints (7, 10, 13, 16)[]

The most space efficient dimension sizes are 7, 10, 13, 16. For best efficiency make your orchard dimensions any of these lengths - (any multiple of 3) + 1. E.g 16x13 is efficient, 15x15 is not.
