Cultivated Field is a building found in Endzone.
Description[]
Cultivated Fields provide Food by growing crops. Crops are planted and harvested by Farmers. Although a Field can be created without construction cost, Water and time as well as workforce are required for the crops to grow.

Survival Tips[]
Contamination[]
Cultivated Fields will produce contaminated Food when the crops are growing or harvested on radioactively contaminated ground, and also when they are watered with contaminated Water. The soil can be decontaminated with the Remove Radiation task but it's a long and labor intensive work.
To avoid contamination of the soil Cultivated Fields can be protected from Toxic Rain at the Weather Station by using a plastic cover. During this time the crops won't receive any Water and consequently growing time will increase. However, crops growing within the area of influence of the Irrigation Plant will still receive some Water and when the Water comes from a clean source like a Well or a carbon filtered Water Tower the crops can not get contaminated.
Given enough Decontamination Kits are produced, contaminated crops placed in a storage building within the Field of Work of the Decontamination Post will be decontaminated. They will also be decontaminated when processed at a Pub or Kitchen.
Fields Layout[]
There are different ways to make good use of the Irrigation Plant and all have their pros and cons. One is to set up smaller fields, all strictly under the influence of the Irrigation system, at the expense of a waste of clean Water and with potentially lesser yields. The other is to set up larger fields, not entirely irrigated, with the risk to harvest crops partly contaminated, and to lose some due to withering. Lastly, some players prefer to make irrigated zones to overlap at the cost of a greater workforce and use of Water.
Workforce[]
- With careful micro-management several Cultivated Fields can be taken care of by a single Farmer.
- Two Farmers are usually enough to take care of the largest fields except for crops growing very rapidly.
- To assign additional Farmers to the same Cultivated Field will speed up tilling, planting and harvesting.
- Farmers can be ordered in the building's menu to harvest crops before they all are well ripened at the cost of immature crops being lost.
- Farmers will help out with other tasks when they are not busy tilling, planting or harvesting.
